Dream of the Red Chamber is a world-renowned novel acclaimed as one of the ‘Four Great Chinese Classics’. This production’s plot centers around the love triangle between Jia Baoyu, Lin Daiyu and Xue Baochai. A group of creative young artists revive this national classic through contemporary lens and rekindle the story with a unique modern view. The production draws from ancient paintings’ aesthetics and Chinese antiquity to devise graceful and elegant dance scenes. The plot inherits the structure of traditional Chinese novels. The 12 dance segments correspond to 12 independent chapters that weave the story together. Industrious dancers in their prime recreate a marvelous kingdom of youth in the ‘Grand View Garden’.
